I have yet to meet someone who does not want to be
happy and at peace.  Meditation will take you to the
source of your happiness, which is to be found in your
own peace of mind. When we do not have peace of
mind and are allowing ourselves to be constantly
attacked by negative thoughts, happiness will
undeniably elude us, no matter what our external life
situation may reveal.  If we can learn how to meditate
with a still mind, we will discover an unexpected
source of happiness within our own self. Meditation
shows us that happiness is not dependent on outer
circumstances and situations, but on our inner
attitude.
"Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation.
But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace.
- Bhagavad Gita
Clear Path
Works
While learning how to meditate and the proper meditation techniques, it is quite common to experience
anger, conflict, jealousy and every other afflictive emotion during the meditation.  For me, the first few
months were very difficult and I often wasn’t able to go more than a minute or two before my mind
became agitated.  But this was my first step in recognizing that it was my thoughts that triggered the
negative feelings.  This was extremely beneficial because it allowed me to gain a degree of control over
these harmful states of mind.  Soon enough it became very easy, as well as enjoyable, to meditate for 5
to 10 minutes.  That’s when the miracle of meditation began to manifest in my experience of everyday
life.  Suddenly what used to disturb and anger me no longer did.  For example, prior to meditation, if a
driver cut me off on the highway, I would become enraged.  After about six months of meditation, anger
was still present in that same sort of situation, however to a much lesser degree. I was no longer
enraged by it, just a bit aggravated.  After a few years of meditation, I was literally able to smile under
the same circumstance when cut off.  Truly miraculous!
How To Meditate:
"Still your mind in me, still yourself in me, and without a doubt you shall be united with me,
Lord of Love, dwelling in your heart."
- Bhagavad Gita
Following the Breath: A Meditation Technique
One of the most basic and most effective meditation techniques is to simply follow the breath.
Regardless of the meditation technique utilized, always sit in a comfortable position with your spine
erect; chin back and relaxed.  You can do this in a chair or sitting cross legged on the floor.  These are
the better positions to use because while it is perfectly fine to fall asleep while meditating, it is much
more beneficial to stay awake, and these positions facilitate that.
You can prepare your body for these positions by sitting and holding both
feet in front of you. With your thumbs on the soles and the rest of your
hands lying on the tops/insides of your feet; take your thumbs and with
light pressure press them into your big toes. Continue down a straight
line, starting from the top mid-line of the big toes, pressing as you go
across the balls of your feet, down to the arches, to the backs of your
heels. Press and move your thumbs down a bit, and then again and
again. Once you get to the backs of your heels, hold your thumbs pressed
in for a few breaths. As you do this you will feel releases in your feet
where you are touching and your body easing into your chosen position.
Continue doing this until you feel like you were able to get all or most of
the kinks out.

Close your eyes and state your intention in your mind to have as successful a meditation as possible.  (I
personally pray for a few minutes asking the Holy Spirit to assist me).  Then simply breathe in and out
through your nose; your mouth remains closed.  On the inhale visualize a healing white light coming into
and permeating your entire body.  As you exhale, imagine your breath as a dark smoke containing all
negativity and tension that is being released.  Count your breaths as you breathe in and out; i.e. “one” on
the inhale, “two” on the exhale, “three” on the inhale, etc.  When you get to ten, start over again from one.
If you find your mind is wandering, or if you’re thinking about anything and not focused on your breath,
start from one again.  This may be difficult at first and you may get discouraged, but remember that even
a few minutes a day is beneficial.  You will gradually find that this gets easier. You will notice it becoming
more and more enjoyable and the benefits will be undeniable. At that point you are ready to move on to a
more advanced technique. Visit our

Chakra Meditation: A Meditation Technique
Meditation Techniques:
Chakra Meditation is when you incorporate the toning of the chakras into your meditation. You should
start by doing the foot massage mentioned in the “Following the Breath” example above to get your body
ready. Use the picture on this page as a reference to the location of each chakra by its color
representation. Start with your
Root Chakra, which is your survival center, represented by the color red,
and the tone is "UH". Take a long, slow deep breath in, and on the entire breath out say "uhhhh". Move up
to the
Sacral Chakra, which is your creativity center, represented by the color orange, and the tone is "OO"
(as in choo choo train). For each chakra tone, take a slow deep breath in and then tone it out. Next is the
Solar Plexus Chakra, which is your will power center, represented by the color yellow, and the tone is
"AH". Then comes the
Heart Chakra, the bridge between the physical and spiritual chakras. The Heart
Chakra
, is your love center, represented by the color green, and the tone is "AY". Move up to your Throat
Chakra
, which is your truth center, represented by turquoise or blue, and the tone is "EE". Next is your
Brow Chakra or Third Eye Chakra, which is your intuition and intelligence center. It is represented by
indigo or purple, and the tone is "OHM". Finally we move up to the
Crown Chakra, which is your
connection to the Divine, represented by the color purple or white, and the tone is silence.
The great thing about Chakra Meditation is that you can do
your toning any way you want. I personally like to tone three
times each chakra going up and then once each back down
and then sit in bliss, focusing on my third eye. Some people
who don’t need to ground themselves at all (grounding
occurs with the root chakra), start higher or can just start
with OHM. If you feel a blockage in any of your chakra
centers you can just tone that one. For instance, if you’re
angry with someone and you can feel it in your heart… tone
it out. If you’re going for a job interview and you want to feel
more confident… tone it out with your Solar Plexus Chakra.
If you have something to say to someone and you want it to
be clear, concise, and to the point… tone it out with your
Throat Chakra. While meditating, if you feel the need to tone
a certain chakra again, you can do that too. There is no set
way that this technique must be done.
What I find to be best about the Chakra Meditation Technique, is the ability to transcend the mind. Toning
the chakras is a way to remove blockages from your chakras, purify and balance them. Once you clear
the chakras out and connect with the Divine, you are free from being connected to your mind. Many
people have found that in addition to the physiological benefits that meditation itself has to offer, toning
on a regular basis helps things in your life just come together. When your energetic body is in balance,
your life will follow suit.
