Guided Meditation:
There can be a period of trial and error when first
learning how to meditate. The goal of meditation is
to clear the mind of chatter. Meditation should
enable you to sit in quiet, with no stimulation, and
slowing the mind almost to the point of no thought.
There are lots of people who find that meditating in
pure quiet , makes it  very hard to concentrate.
When there is not a single sound, every little noise
seems extra loud and distracting. Pure quiet
seems to create chatter and you just cannot stop
your mind from talking to you. There are also those
who can't seem to find a quiet space. These are
the people who may find it easier to meditate with
background meditation music or someone guiding
their meditation.
Meditation Music can help set the mood, allow you to become more relaxed, and help you to preoccupy
your mind so that you can go within more easily.  Guided meditation can deepen your concentration
and give you a heightened awareness There are so many types of music that you can use for
meditation. There are those who prefer angelic music, some prefer drumming, others the Native
American Flute. Asian/Zen music is also very popular. At some point during the meditation the music
can actually help you transcend to the next level. If you are finding it difficult to get to that next level, try
meditating with music in the background, and try different types of music too. Meditating with music
allows your mind to let go, create and just go with the flow. Qi Gong experts believe that meditating with
a Qi Gong meditation CD can help accelerate healing and remove any harmful blockages with the
ancient Chinese science of sound. You will notice that different types of music can create different
experiences for you.

Guided meditation can be very beneficial for some people. There are those who feel that when they
meditate on their own the results are not as good as they would like. A lot of people feel like nothing is
happening, that they are just sitting quietly with their eyes closed. They may feel as if they are getting
nowhere with their meditation. Sometimes it is so much easier to meditate when you have someone
talking you through it, reminding you to take deep breaths, and giving you things to concentrate on.
There are all different types of guided meditation CD's out there: regular meditation, chakra clearing,
past life regression, healing mediation, contacting your Angels or Spirit Guides, vision quest, Christian,
Buddhist, Zen meditation, guided imagery, brain wave altering, the list goes on and on. Those who
suffer from serious illness or addictions find guided meditations to be very beneficial. The
physical
benefits for those with an illness have been proven in studies and for those with addictions, guide
meditation actually helps to curb their urges and recover faster. Some even report that they experience
a better nights sleep. Guided meditations also tend to have a lot of positive affirmations for you to say,
which is one of the best things you could do for yourself, and something that should be done on a daily
basis. Repeating positive affirmations can only attract positive things in your life and it helps to change
your thought process to be more positive throughout the day.

Guided meditation is also a great way to start if you have never tried meditating before, or if you do not
have a teacher or guru. You can take classes or get a CD, even a DVD, to help you through your
meditation. It helps to give you direction, goals, support,  and helps get you where you want to be faster.
Trying out different meditation classes can help you to better figure out which technique works better for
you. Guided meditation will help you to have a better understanding of what meditation is supposed to
do for you and how it can make you feel. Meditation is extremely beneficial and those benefits can
achieved by everyone who practices; however, it can be a slow process and become frustrating and
maybe even disappointing as you are learning. Practicing with a guided meditation can make your
meditation more enjoyable, and you will find that the time passes quickly without you even noticing.

Guided meditation is just another meditation technique that you can experiment with. The beauty of this
particular technique is that the options within it are never ending. Meditating with music or guided
meditation can take the meditator deeper and more quickly than meditating in quiet. Meditation with
music or guidance is a great way to meditate particularly if you are having trouble
following the breath
and sitting in quiet. If your goal is to go on a vision quest, or you just want to take your meditation to the
next level, you will gain new and wonderful experiences.
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring
forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
- Gospel of St. Thomas
